On the downside, the entire railway station climax sequence seems to be a tad bit long, and the editor’s wise use of scissors could have made it better. The chase scene in Karaikudi is well shot and brings in the relieving laughs. Maybe, that is because, only at the middle point, the main chaos starts, and only then the real comic tension starts. However, this issue gets corrected post interval and the second half has quite a handful of funny rib-tickling scenes. There's no substantial content, even for the humour, which doesn't connect with the audience.

Money is the ultimatum for everyone and Kalakalappu 2 deals with such a concept where everyone is in the need for money, for their own reasons. Now, the sequel to that film, Kalakalappu 2 has been released, directed by the same Sundar.C.

Kalakalappu was one of the super hit movies of 2012, which also impressed the audience for its humour infused with fun elements.
